Revising Pevsner: a new look at Surrey

Applications are now invited for the Society's online meeting on Wednesday 12th October 2022, starting at 6pm (London time). Non-members are welcome.

Our speaker will be Charles O'Brien.

The first edition of the Buildings of England volume for Surrey was published in 1962, co-authored by Nikolaus Pevsner and Ian Nairn. The guide has now been fully revised for the first time since 1971 and will be published in November 2022. Its author Charles O'Brien is the series editor of the Pevsner Architectural Guides, published by Yale University Press. He has researched, edited and written several volumes in the series since 1997 and will talk about the history of the series and the tasks of revision as well as some discoveries that have come to light in the course of research.

This event is free for members. A charge of £5 per head will be made to non-members.
